The Capped Bust Half Dime was issued from 1829 to 1837 with all issues struck at the Philadelphia Mint. There are no key dates in the series and issues are widely available in circulated grades making this an approachable series for beginning collectors.
The coin was designed by William Kneass after John Reich. The composition was 89.24% silver and 10.76% copper for most of the series, but switched to 90% silver and 10% copper in 1837. The standard weight is 1.35 grams with a diameter of 15.5 mm.
